Each year, Dunedin Airport allocates a portion of our operating revenue to support local organisations and initiatives that make a significant impact on our community. This programme is designed to foster community engagement, promote regional development, and support causes that align with our values.

Dunedin Airport is committed to connecting the Lower South region with the world, enhancing regional development, and supporting local communities through various initiatives, including the annual Community Sponsorship Programme.

CEO Daniel De Bono is proud that Dunedin Airport is able to give back to the community that has given the airport so much support. “We have had an incredible year launching the direct Gold Coast service, undergoing major infrastructure upgrades, focusing on sustainability achieving international Airport Carbon Accreditationand of course being named Medium Airport of the Year in October. The icing on the cake is being able to share in our success with our community across the Lower South.”

Recipient Age Concern Otago CEO Mike Williams is extremely grateful for the support. “The sponsorship will be used to support the coordination of around 150 Meals on Wheels volunteers, who very generously gift their time to collectively deliver around 25,000 meals to people's homes each year. It’s a significant contribution to the community and definitely requires some serious coordination and organising, as the team will attest to!”

Dunedin Airport has a collection point for gifts that will be donated to Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge and these can be left under the tree by the information desk. The team at Ōtepoti Dunedin Whānau Refuge set up a ‘Christmas shop’ of donated goods where whānau can come and shop for each other.
